There are so many things to love about this guy. He’s rugged, funny, smart, loves football and fishing and good scotch, can name nearly every tree in nature, reads theology books, can water ski and snow ski like a pro, likes classical music and Pearl Jam, and occasionally loses his temper. He’s edgy like that sometimes…..in a masculine, Jesus-and-the-money-changers sort of a way. He has huge biceps and makes you feel like he’d crush anyone who tried to hurt you…….all the things that make a girl go weak in the knees.

Egyptian Pyramids, Fantasy Football, and Battle of the Bands, part 2
What, you say, do these three things have in common? Well, me , at the moment. Today the girls and I made these lovely Egyptian pyramids to aid us in our study of the ancient Egypt. We used sugar cubes, white glue, and paint and had a messy but fun time. This is part of our Story of the World classical history curriculum and I am so impressed with it so far. I think the girls would agree with me that history is our favorite subject. Monday, we are supposed to mummify chickens. Eeek! Wish me luck.
Then there’s the infamous Fantasy Football draft that took place today. Has this man-game hit your family yet? I would complain except that I love it too. I couldn’t wait to get home last night and find out who “we” drafted. You see, this has a profound effect on which and how many football games we will watch every week. All this compounded by the fact that Marcus now lives with us and is a confessing sports addict as well. I will be the most well informed female about all things football. And in case you’re wondering, we got Carson Palmer, Ladian Tomlinson, Tory Holt…….blah blah blah. Who am I kidding? All ten of my faithful readers are girly girls.
Oooooh, look at those faces…..
I love this picture. In all likelihood, it was taken 4 years ago but since I’m notoriously, predictably unpredictable about how I handle my photos….we’re left to guess. That would make Stevie 41 and Elea 2. This is one of those pictures that reminds me of the playfulness and loyalty and affection that this wonderful guy shows to me and to our children. We are not left to wonder how much he loves us. We played a new game today called “Apples to Apples” with the girls (thank you Sue for the suggestion) and he’s just so fun. He gets excited with them and really laughs…..out loud. They so enjoy his company and I sit in awe at the ease with which he parents. It makes me grateful……for a man who will be a man…..who will step up and accept his role as a father and husband and leader…..who will make plenty of mistakes but who will say “I’m sorry, please forgive me”. I am thankful that I have been fortunate enough to share this life with a man such as this.
What I Love About My House……
this old antique-ish desk that I bought for $25 and redecorranged…..
all things monogrammed…..
my eclectic collection of boots and purses….
the upstairs bathroom that recently had a makeover…..I painted and distressed the vanities, took down hideous medicine cabinets and added these mirrors from Hobby Lobby, changed the faucets out for these beautiful bronze ones and spray painted the rest of the fixtures (towel rack, towel paper holder, etc) to match the faucets…
Caiti’s Room(16yo) with homeade burlap bedskirts…when its’ clean….which is rarely….
this cutest picture of Emme at 3yo……
my most precious macbook pro….once you go mac….well….you know the rest…..
the security of the fact that this guy will sit in this chair every. single. night….
the vanilla ice cream colored walls in my dining room with accents of plum and robin-egg blue…
these wall words….this particular one is situated above the baseboard in the downstairs bathroom, directly across from the “potty”. Captive audience.
our newly finished schoolroom….clean, modern, vintage, IKEAesque.
ballerinas in the ‘soussus’ position. How do I know that’s what it’s called, you ask? Because I am now taking an adult ballet class on Wednesday nights. I know, I should have warned you to sit down and swallow the drink of tea in your mouth. Why not? It seems to be the year for new things. If you can’t stop the comedic visions of me in tights and a tu-tu, don’t worry. I showed up in yoga pants and a tank top. The real ballerinas in the class were likely slightly offended at the many ways I butchered their “sport”, including my attire. It was a great workout though and I think I really like it.
my humble collection of C.S. Lewis books….my favorite of which is Mere Christianity. His preface to this book is nothing short of genius.
Happy Anniversary Stevie!
Our prayers soon to be answered….
It’s almost here, the re-debut of Issues, Etc. For those of you who don’t know, this is the smartest, most confessional and wittiest christian radio around. We have posted the link to the website here on our blog (to your right, because apparently you must be smarter than us or 15 to figure out how to link it into the blog) for your listening pleasure. Issues was taken off the air about 3 months ago (March 18th on Tuesday of Holy Week to be exact) for “business and programmic” reasons (aka ….it was too smart and confessional and witty) and we have been dreaming of it’s return since that dark March afternoon. The host, Todd Wilken, is so gifted at his vocation and we have sincerely grieved this period of “silence”. We also love listening to the old archived shows, especially when Todd and Jeff (the show’s producer) banter back and forth, poking at each other , making us laugh out loud. So forgive us for our enthusiasm (Steve and Emme are praying that everything goes well Monday) but there will be a party in the Wadsworth house in 2 days 3 hours, 11 minutes, 42 seconds and counting.
The only quandry we find ourselves in is, “Should we listen to it live, but then what will we do on Tuesday for work out music on the ipod?” I think this is what Steve is pondering this very moment as he longingly stares at the Issues web site. Think we’re crazy? We haven’t been this excited since the Vikings drafted Adrian Peterson. Check it out for yourself….you’ll see.
Our girls and Scooter (who I ran over with my politically incorrect 2 ton ford excursion this week—simmer down, it was an accident and he didn’t even have a broken bone) are excited too. Can’t ya tell?
