My son wrote a song called Song 42 based on scripture taken from Psalm 42—tricky, huh? The song is beautiful and after I listened to the song 442 times, I went and read Psalm 42…..and began to weep. Like a baby. I’ve read Psalm 42 many times before and have always loved it. But it’s different when you see how your children might translate that word into a song. I think the girls and I (the little ones that I homeschool) will have to add this psalm to our list of ones to memorize. I’ll never read it the same again. Every time I read those precious words I will hear my son’s voice in my head singing this:
Song 42
I will say a prayer to the God who gives me life
I will say to God my rock, Lord I love you
And I am thirsty, thirsty for the living God
Where can I meet Him?
Tears have been my food day and night
I long to serve him
Where can I meet Him?
During the day the Lord sends his love to me
During the night I wil sing songs about Him
I will say a prayer to the God who gives me life
I will say to God my rock , Lord I love you
When the world comes down on me
and questions “Where is your God?”
I will say, He lives inside of me
During the day the Lord sends His love to me
During the night I will sing songs about Him
I will say a prayer to the God who gives me life
I will say to God my rock, Lord I love you
Lord I love you

Wow! That was a beautiful song. Taylor is a pro and he has a great voice. Are you so proud of him that you could just burst? I would be! Thanks Edie, I’m off to read Psalms:42

Okay, so I read Psalm 42. WOW!! Great job to Taylor and the band. So many people from our church were truly blessed by their talent and music. Amazed that at 18, you can serve God in such a great way. The words to their own- written songs, prove that. And of course, you wouldn’t be a great band if all the girls didn’t love you…and they did. Several of our youth girls told me last night that “Your nephew is so gorgeous”…I know, I know…and he sings great too!!! It was a great weekend and I am thankful to share it with you and our great family. Love You SIS!!

No CD yet Keli…they have saved/raised about half the money so far. They’re hoping to do it in a month or two. I’ll keep you posted.

I just stumbled upon your blog today via Pink and Polka Dot. I am amazed at your son’s talent. You are so Blessed to have a son with his heart in the right place! He will make a strong husband one day! You have every right to be so proud! I can only pray that God shows me the way to raise my son to be as strong in his faith! My favorite line in the song, “He lives inside of me” Soooo true! 🙂 Please keep me updated as to when their CD come out. I would love to support them! 🙂

Oh my gosh, I’m bawling!! This makes me actually look forward to watching my kids grow older…
Hi, Edie! I am mom to three and pregnant with #4- (due May 16th.) My kids are 6,4 and 2 (if you stop by my blog it has older pics up right now as I’m playing catch-up on the baby books.) But we have boy, girl, boy… and another boy on the way. Hubby and I met at Wheaton and are members of the PCA denomination…
We just realized we can’t afford private school next year now that my daughter will be school age as well, so I am looking at public school vs. homeschooling… ANYWHO… this is how I stumbled across your blog- trying to research homeschooling. SO happy to have stumbled here, though- NICE to meet you!! 🙂
Sorry for the long comment- but now for the question- your kids appear to have lots of friends and be socially “normal” (whatever that means, right) and whenever I end up on a home page site or forum I am horrified at the legalism and judgmental attitudes I encounter there… HOW have you avoided this and found a community that works for your family? Church? Our church is so far from us it is hard to get involved throughout the week, though we LOVE it there… 🙁

Edie this is amazing. Church has been missing from my life for awhile now. We talk about the Lord a lot at home, but we only go once every few months due to my husbands crazy work schedule. But really that’s just an excuse. My New Year’s Resolution is to be there once a week. You are like a breath of fresh air.

Self Learning is the best way to learn about this. In this time of the era, I guess self-learning can get you to place that you can not get from learning from someone.Surgical technician certification online
