This is the 3rd kitchen I’ve done in 3 years. Right after I finished the first kitchen remodel, we moved to the lake. I loved her–-the turquoise kitchen. She’ll always be special to me.
Then there was the lake kitchen remodel. And much to your chagrin surprise, I did a white layered palette. I really liked that kitchen too but again, we only enjoyed her for a few months before our house burned to the ground.
Laurel Cove Kitchen is her own woman. She may seem a little high-falutin’, what with her crystal chandelier and her marble countertops. But once you get to know her, you’ll realize that despite her proper exterior, she’s a workhorse willing to serve.
This weekend, she entertained the family with style. She served roasted turkey and butternut squash soup, the best ever beef stew, smoked turkey and potatoes, and chipotle pumpkin barley soup. On the sweets side, there were gingersnaps, pumpkin chocolate chip muffins, apple cake with caramel icing and strawberry pretzel salad. It was like a fall festival in your mouth 🙂
It was so much fun seeing how the kitchen functions in action—-she’s perfect. Roomy but cozy, pretty but functional. Mary AND Martha.
I’ll let you enjoy the pics and I’ll try to post sources tomorrow.
(a Le Creuset pot is always on the stove and usually full of yummies)
(I stole the idea of the fall leaves in the white transferware from Country Living)
(loving the open island—so easy to get the dishes out and put away)
This is the baking center and all the baking supplies and measuring utensils and stored in those drawers.
There’s a full post on the baking center, including how I organize my supplies and what I keep on hand!
(where all the magic happens)
This will likely be the first and last time you see this kitchen in this state. A table has been ordered and fabrics are being chosen to grace the windows and the chairs.
But I love her now too! And am so thankful everytime I am lucky enough to cook and bake and live here 🙂

wow! What a gorgouse Kitchin! I found your blog yesterday and have read so much of it already! You are such an inspiration. 🙂
I am sad and envious. I am 63 and will never have a kitchen like that or even close. Guess I can stick some leaves in a jug tho’.
Enjoy!!!
LOVE it! Its so cozy and I bet the lighting at night is gorgeous with that amazing chandelier! I can’t wait to see it with the window treatments and chair fabric. Fabulous!
Edie, it is absolutely beautiful. My name is Teresa and I have been reading your blog for a few months now. You have come a long way since the fire and I can imagine how happy and peaceful it must feel to have your new home come together. Thank you for taking time from your very hectic days to post for the rest of us. You are inspiring. I am happy for you and your family and hope you will thoroughtly enjoy many many days in your home.
Love it, Love it, Love it! Particularly like the gray cabinets with the wooden counters AND the other – love how eclectic it is.
-Trish
AMAZING!!! Every detail is perfect, until the grandbabies come along, and then you will quickly add doors to that island! My wild-woman 18 month old would be in paradise pulling those dishes off the shelves! Until then, ENJOY! You and your family deserve all this beauty! When your girls are grown you should consider being a decorator if you don’t return to the medical field!
Just beautiful. I would love to know your paint colors. I really want to lighten up my rooms and I’m not sure what I want to do. I’ve lived with dark colors (Red) for years. I have enjoyed touring your home and I hope that you and your family have many happy years there.
I’m drooling over your new kitchen! So lovely, cozy and functional. Look forward to seeing what culinary magic you create in your new kitchen.:-)
Love the Polish Pottery! I shipped home boxes (to Oregon) from a trip to Germany years ago and have been looking for inspiration in decorating with some of the larger pieces. I love reading your blog – thank you for sharing your family and life!
Tonya
Oh, I love her too!!!! What a beauty!! When you share sources, will you tell us where you like to shop for all your plates/dishes? Also, when can I come for dinner? 🙂
Just stunning. So functional and soooo gorgeous. Looking forward to sources tomorrow…we need a new kitchen faucet and I’m drooling over yours! 🙂
Because you have such a gorgeous kitchen, I may or may not have just broken the ninth commandment. Mea culpa. And on that note, Happy Reformation!
Sis, I break it every time I look at this stinkin’ blog.
I love your kitchen! Everything looks so beautiful. Where did you get your kitchen Island?

I love every inch of your new home! I wont tell how long I sat yesterday and just loved on your blog and new space. I’m sure your stats would give me away 😉
Thank you for opening your heart and home to us Edie. Love you both~
Looks absolutely delightful! God is so good! xxx
Pure eye candy! Just beautiful and made more beautiful by the family time spent there already. The orange Le Creuset pot brings back memories. I grew up watching my mom cook in the same pot and color choice. I love, love, love the cabinets, the countertops, the wood floors, the bright windows, the open shelving, the new appliances….I could go on all night. I can’t wait to see the sources and again I am so happy for you. Please also share the guest space sources. I love me some chenille bedspread and some mercury lamps!!!
I. Love. Her.
Beautiful. She is simply beautiful!
Hey Edie,
I love it. AND I would be so appreciative if you would expound on the strawberry pretzel salad you mentioned. Recipe? Please? It just sounds yummy.
She is gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous!! Every inch spectacular. I love how this kitchen, and every space in your home personifies you. Stylish, eclectic, chic and with a splash of breathtaking. I must make a confession-I am a wee bit jealous!! Our kitchen is small-I think yours is the size of our dining area and living room combined. Alas, I am thrilled for you. You deserve it!!
All the yummy food you listed here is making me hungry. I love your beef stew recipe and make it all the time. So very yummy!!
Hope you had a blessed time with your houseguests.
Hugs,
Ruth
Wow she is awesome. I wondering. If you can source the rug in front of your oven? Little colorful one? I know small detai but love!!! Thanks! Jennifer
thanks jennifer—it’s from pier one!
It looks like you have casters on the piece next to the stove. Is that it’s permanent home then you move it about when you need to pass through the area by your baking center (which, btw, is my favorite part and I pinned it on my wall — LOVE it)? Or do you tuck it away someplace out when it’s not out and being used? Just absolutely love your spaces and thank you so very, very much for all the time you’ve taken to take and edit and post the pictures so we can rejoice with you in your new home. Wow. What a difference a year makes, huh?
i know, isn’t it almost a miracle?!?!?
i can push the rolling cart through to the workroom when i’m not using it. but that hasn’t happened yet!
xo,
edie
love that kitchen edie! it is fabulous! such a cool baking center. would love to know — is your marble honed or polished. and love all of your colors — greens and grays and neutrals. mmmm!
polished. but they were supposed to be honed. i’ve read equal amounts of pros or cons for both so i’m not sure it matters that much. you would only used marble if you’re okay with the patina it gets over time.
🙂
She looks mah-velous!
Where do you keep the small cart that’s next to the stove when you’re not using it? I want one of those, but thought I didn’t have enough room. It looks great where you have it. Maybe I should go ahead and get one and park it someplace unexpected?
thank you dearie! i envisioned that i would park it in the schoolroom when i wasn’t using it—but that happens to be never, so far! yes, you’d love one 🙂
xoxo,
edie
Love it! It is absolutely gorgeous. Where did you get your kitchen chairs? And love the stickers on the canisters!
thanks so much kathy! tj maxi 🙂
maxx that is…..autocorrect is the devil!
Omg love it!!!!!!! Strawberry salad do tell!!!!!!
this is almost identical to the recipe i used maggie!

Absolutely gorgeous, Edie! So happy for you!
Wow! Just happened upon your blog yesterday… couldn’t wait to see today’s post! LOVE your kitchen! It’s amazing how sometimes the most beautiful things come out of something tragic… God Bless you and your family! And thanks for sharing your 31 Days! (ps – anychance you could link what floor plan you went with? saw the elevation rendering, but couldn’t find the actual plan?? would love to know!)
nikki,
it’s a donald gardner plan that we changed quite a bit but here’s the basic format we used! hope that helps 🙂
http://www.dongardner.com/plan_details.aspx?pid=4281
Edie,
I love your house so much – just beautiful!!
Can you tell me what the measurements of your kitchen ended up being and how wide is your island? I have a kitchen of similar size and am wondering if a layout like this might work. From looking at the floor plan link you provided, it appears that you widened your kitchen.
Thanks,
Rachel
fabulous!!!
fabulous!!!
edie! stunning. and beautiful. i am confessing openly that i will be duplicating some of your awesome accessories! you have a gift of finishing off a room for SURE! i am so so so happy for you and your family. i’m really liking that you put in a baking center…..you are a super smarty pants. enjoy all the wonderful memories to be had in this kitchen!

It’s so beautiful and functional, really just a feast for the eyes… As for the open island…clearly your toddler days are over…wink!
Hello. I am a new reader over from the blog August Fields. I noticed in the sources that several of your items are from an anitque store in Kingsport, TN….which just so happens to be where I live!! What a small world 🙂 Love your kitchen andyour blog!
Wow. Even though my kitchen is mostly white I absolutely love this kitchen!! The different colors all work together and every detail is a feast for the eyes! What fabulous times you will have here! 🙂 I love the antique stores in Kingsport. I have found lots of goodys in them! All white of course. 😉
You did a beautiful job.
How do you type “squealing”? I am!!!! This is…oh my… wonderful. She is delicious!!! As I’m sure all your goodies are that you and this lovely lady cook up! Honestly, I don’t know what my favorites parts are. I’ll be coming back to this post, just to soak up all this goodness. Loving this 31 days series. Is it okay to say that I’m sad it’s almost over? Please don’t stop!!
Hey!
I loved looking at all 3 of your kitchens!! I love your sense of color and style! I found your blog via the Nester’s post the other day. I’m so glad I clicked on the button! I love reading your faith expressions as well . I look forward to your future posts!!
Mimi
All 3 of your kitchens are beautiful! You did a great job. May I ask why you picked marble over the previous counter (silestone? corian?) I just put in marble counters last December and was told the sealer used would make them stain proof. I did not realize that they would still etch. I love the look, but think if I had to do it all over again, I might consider the silestone or corian. Did you like yours? Thanks! Beth
Edie,
I love the kitchen! I have Hazy Skies and Sea Salt in my new kitchen too. My island is sea salt, and it looks completely different in your kitchen! Mine looks more aquaish… I have carrara countertops, but with a honed finish. I really like them so far, and don’t see what all the big fuss is over having them in kitchens. Although, I haven’t had any bad messes yet either. Everything is just beautiful. We’ve been in our new house a month now, and I still don’t have a single thing hung on the walls and I have tons of boxes left to unpack. Between homeschooling my 1st grader and minding a toddler and an infant, I’m spread pretty thin! Want to come to Texas and decorate;) ?
Congratulations on your new home! Hoping you have many happy memories there.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE your blue island & green hutch!!! What a GREAT color combination 🙂 Love your chandelier too!!
Beautiful kitchen! Great job too on displaying your wonderful dishes etc. Really like the contrast between the ceiling and the chandelier. Beautiful marble and other fixtures. No doubt you all will make many wonderful new memories in this home.
Beautiful – I am also redoing my kitchen – love your Mary and Martha thought !! Enjoy
Edie, your kitchen is just gorgeous! You really did a beautiful job:). Love it!!

Great; really brilliant decorations; the way of interior designs
and the stuff used in this; all luxurious kitchen stuff along with these
crockery rocks your home no doubt.
Beautiful! I love every little thing you’ve done. Your kitchen says…use me…work hard in me…and then sit and rest and chat among friends.
God really does have a way of making beauty out of ashes. You have an amazing testimony. Thank you for the creative visual decorative inspiration. But, more importantly for the inspiration of the heart. Your kitchen rocks Edie…and so do you!!! To God be the glory!
oh you sweet thing! thank you so much.

yowzers! AMAZING!
edie, we are in the process of picking out a microwave. is yours the ‘built-in’ microwave or a counter microwave with the cabinet trim built around it to fit? just trying to tell from your pictures. i am just not sure which way to go on the microwave deal. and what brand is yours?
hi lauren!
it’s a kitchen aid and it’s the smallest one they make—-24 inches i think with the smallest trim kit. it works just fine though we don’t use the microwave that much anyways. hope it’s all going well for you!!!
xo,
edie
I’m in awe. The colors, the ceiling, the light fixture…the overall style… I love it. It helps that I love gray, and have it and other colors in my kitchen, too. I just found you, thanks to the link on August Fields, and plan to be a regular now. Nice to find another Christian, homeschooling blogger sharing her life and home. What wonderful rooms you have! I’m going to share this link on my blog’s facebook page.

Stunning. Edie, God is so GOOD! I’ve followed for awhile but have just been a silly stalker; you have truly been an inspiration (bet you’ve heard that one quite a bit, haven’t you?) 🙂 You and Darlene have done a great job on the house; I could watch the videos again and again. Thanks for sharing your heart and your life and your home!
What a gorgeous, liveable kitchen. I too would feel blessed if it were mine to cook in, eat in and live in. You did a beautiful job!
Eddie, This is the most beautiful kitchen I’ve ever seen! I’m soooo in love.
Absolutely gorgeous! What a gift from God. You are such an inspiration as you share your heartbreaking journey and I’m so happy to see you happy! You have given me a vision for my kitchen renovation! Although it’s much smaller, I see ways to make it beautiful with your ideas and advice. One question please: I looked at your links to your previous kitchens (love them too) and I’m wondering if you liked the open cabinets? I notice you don’t have as many in this kitchen. Did they get dusty? Thanks and enjoy!
Edie, I love, Love, LOVE IT ALL! Gorgeous! Love all your choices, from your beautiful painted cabinets to the leading on the glass! I love your cart with your beautiful crocks on it! I have a giant one that was my grandpa’s and I put my papers in it for my fireplace. Your kitchen has so much beautiful character! Oh and I have the same microwave, I’m like you, dont’ use it much at all. I almost didn’t put one in and my hubby (who never says anything about anything) wanted it, so we got this small one and love it! I love your faucet and hardware, I could go on and on and on! Did you print the labels on your baking glass jars? I LOVE them and want them! LOL! Anyway, I’m going back to look at your beautiful kitchen again! I want to sit at your table and eat something wonderful that your always making!!! 🙂
xoxo
Kristi
Absolutely stunning. I am in love…
Hi there, I would love to know where you found your rolling island? Also, do you always keep it in front of the door or does it have an alternative home? We’ve just redone our kitchen, which is long and narrow and I am trying to convince my husband that a rolling island will work! Thanks, liz
This kichen is wonderful! I love many things about it. I am at the start of our first ever kitchen remodel…I am wondering are your ceilings 8′ or 9′ high? I am leaning towards the ceiling height cabinets.
Hey!! Its just beautiful!! I love everthing about your kitchen!! By the way were did you get your glass flour and sugar jars?? They are big and perfect for what I want to give to my mother for christmas! 🙂
God Bless!
Brittney
In love with your kitchen….wonderful style. It’s a “classy but you an live there” style.
Holly from Down to Earth Style
PS- I found you at The Inspired Room 🙂
Love your kitchen all of it! You are truly talented.. What size is the green cake stand?
Your kitchen is my most favorite kitchen EVER! You did an amazing job. We are about to start remodeling our kitchen (Yikes) and yours is an inspiration. Please share where you got your sink. Thanks!
That kitchen of yours is fabulous. It’s fun to read your words, you clearly have a passion for kitchen related activities! You deserve a great kitchen!!
GORGEOUS kitchen!! I love everything…the colors, the chandelier, the range, the sink, the details…LOVE. I want to move in 🙂
GORGEOUS!! You have three of my fav things in kitchens – fiesta ware, blue and white china and a hood over your stove!!!!
This is is the most amazing kitchen I have ever seen….I am so in love!!
and before I knew it, my eyes were filling with tears at your lovely kitchen. I know mine too can be transformed! Thank you for the inspiration. Just amazing.
Edie, love love your blog. Inspired by your journey of faith, parenthood and life. God is so good! I adore everything about your kitchen and am getting ready to refresh mine in similar colors. In love with the marble counters but scared to pull the trigger. Not at all afraid of imperfections, but really as a serious cook to another how is it wearing? And I have 3 little girls will they just destroy this eating at counter? Hoping you’ll tell me to go for it but know you’ll tell me the truth. Did you use polished or honed finish? XO, a fan in Pennsylvania
Edie,
Love the new kitchen! We’re kind of looking at redoing some things with our house, which is great but has a small kitchen. Love the wainscoting on the ceiling. Looks beautiful. Hope all is well. Keep on posting!
-Jason
This is my favorite favorite kitchen of ALL TIME. I love the antiqued brass accents. Oh. So. Beautiful.
Love! I can’t say anymore… it feels like home. I wish I would have found this kitchen sooner. Absolutely Amazing!
Love Love Love!!! I recently painted my cabinets fieldstone gray by Benjamin moore and i’m so happy I did just that. I wanted to find complimenting colors and this blog is very helpful. Thank you for the inspiration! Your kitchen is lovely!
This is a stunning space!!! Is this also the dining area or do you also have a formal dining room? I’ve thinking of merging my kitchen and dining area (while still maintaining some formality to the combined dining area)….you did it exactly how I envision ours in my dreams!
what are the dimensions of your space if you don’t mind sharing?
I am in love with your kitchen! What a beautiful space, sigh…:) we are remodeling or 1915 bungalow, and have a ceiling like yours. I’m wondering what sheen of paint you used on your kitchen? They look shiney! I’ve always heard that one should use flat paint on the ceiling. Also, should you pretty please tell me the source of your cabinets, they are exactly what I want! Thanks for having such Ann amazing blog !!
Warm wishes from Utah:)
Oh my, gotta, love auto correct! ^^ that’s what I get for using my phone to leave comments!
Can i just say i read loads of home blogs from some fabulous women, but yours is just spectacular. Your home is wonderful, you have superb taste and a truly wonderful home. I am inspired, and would love to start my own blog but worry absolutely nobody would be interested in what I have to say…well.. about anything! But this have given me hope! (and some home ideas lol!)
Love the kitchen, love… love… love, it is divine.
Can I ask what the dimensions are in your kitchen?
I came back to this page hoping to find the source for the gorgeous fabric gracing your kitchen windows. If you have a chance and are willing to share, perhaps, you could drop me an email (gjo1972@hotmail.com). Would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!!!
Can you please tell me the name and maker of your kitchen sink…thanks in advance
I saw that someone else just asked this, but I would also love to know the fabric used in your kitchen. Beautiful! Thanks!
I saw a post about your BHG article on Hooked On Houses. Your house is so beautifully decorated! I am very much in love with your green hutch. Was it custom made?
I LOVE your blog and your style. Your home and family are beautiful! I am a homeschool mom of 6 from Connecticut. I want to give my 80’s kitchen a facelift but am very decorative challenged, so I thought it would be helpful to follow a model to help. My question is… The counters were updated before we bought 4 years ago. I have granite that I would call “warm” with tans, caramel, black in it. Does you palette (fieldstone) work with that? How “careful” do I have to be to work with the granite color? Thank you for your help!!! and BTW I LOVED your Why we “almost” quit homeschooling post. I LOVE my days with my kids.
Can you please tell me what floor and ceiling materials you used in the kitchen?
I really like your baking center. Such a good idea!
Hello Edie, beautiful kitchen….I would like to ask about the paint color. Is it just hazy skies or a mix with abingdon putty…….I have tried a mix of the two and it looks much darker than your pictures …..is it full strenght 1 and 1or the mix 50% lightened up.
Thank You.
Luminita.
Adore you kitchen & home….. so lovely. Can you please share what finish your chandelier is? Thanks so much!!
~Lisa
Edie, I met you for a millisecond at Blissdom almost 3 years ago. I had read about your kitchen’s demise in the house fire and my heart ached for you and your family. I always loved your turquoise kitchen and have kept the images tucked in the back of my mind (and on a Pinterest board. LOL.) This past October we had a water leak, mold, asbestos abatement and now termite damage in our kitchen. I keep thinking that this must be a big test of my faith and strength before our dream kitchen is here. One thing that keeps me going is remembering that “It could always be worse.” Thanks for your inspiration and your ability to hold your head high to rebuild your beautiful new dream kitchen. I love all the details you chose. Best of luck and well wishes to you and your family. (P.s. that little block of fudge you gave me at Blissdom….Mmmmm!
Hello. Could you please tell me the manufacturer of these cabinets? Do you know if they come in different colour finishes or do you have to custom paint. Any help you may offer is appreciated. Kindest regards, Janice
Can you please let me know if your chandelier is the Schonbek Madison in ‘Etruscan Gold’ colour/finish? Tks.
I love your kitchen! Where did you get the island cart on wheels next to your stove top?
-Amanda 🙂
Love your house colors. What color is your trim?
Hi Edie,
Love you and love your kitchen. Quick question for you….would you recommend your kitchen stools, from Overstock? I ‘m in the market for new ones. And am wondering about these.
xo,
Kari
I love your ceiling in the kitchen. Do you mind me asking, is it wainscoting panels or individual slats of wood installed to look like bead board? I want to put this ceiling in our kitchen and I have looked at panels of wainscoting and looked at the individual slats. I’m trying to go the route of quick and easy to install.
Thanks for sharing your life, I enjoy it all!
I have NO WORDS to describe how gorgeous your kitchen is!
I don`t know when I have enjoyed someones creation and design so much – you are a natural!! Love that you share you sources. colors and finds. Congratulations on such a wonderful kitchen – thanks for sharing!!! Can`t wait for your next idea!!!

Adam Walsh also made a few digs about Cher now, branding the girl “moody and miserable”,
that is certainly rather unprofessional via one of the X Factor judges.
The latest “X Factor” injury, Aiden Grimshaw was fast to defend Lloyd however, saying, “Cher is usually lovely. I think it absolutely was always those hard regarding who got such awful stick at such a early age to go around beaming but she’s amazing and she actually is done really well. micron
Cher Lloyd is on rather shaky ground with her popularity and if Katie Waissel is selected out of the competition soon, she may likely become the new “villain” of the show.
Louis Walsh was totally right when he mentioned, ” She has to learn to be good to everybody – because you will meet them on how down. inch
Hi! Do you use Twitter? I’d like to follow you if that would be okay.
I’m definitely enjoying your blog and look forward to new posts.
I just came across your site on INSAGRAM ,a couple of hours ago. I have been sitting here reading, about you. I know there is much more and I will get back to your site.
Your kitchen is beautiful , stunning. I’m new at this computer stuff but I’m loving discovering something new every day.
I’ve also ordered some oils, can’t wait to try them.
Thank you for posting the list of colors ect. I’m trying to perk up my kitchen a bit.
You are an inspiration to all of us.
Gods Blessings to you and yours, 💫💫💫💫 Jaylyn
Thank you for being so generous in sharing your sources! I absolutely love your latest accomplishment! It is really beautiful.
Most common capacities are 5000 litres, 10000 litres, and 20000 litres.
But make sure that you consider the style your home is built with.
Tiny video cameras are sometimes used to probe intricate pipes to pinpoint hidden leaks
and problems.
What a beautiful kitchen! You have great style- both classy and colorful. I enjoy your blog. We recently moved to the area for my husband’s job- a little ways East of you in the Tri-cities. I don’t know a soul. I actually came across your blog when I did a search for “Kingsport” and “kitchen design.” If you are comfortable giving recommendations for folks in our area, I would be so grateful. (Cabinetmaker & stone fabricator in particular. In our old home I worked with a custom cabinetmaker and enjoyed that process and I had absolutely gorgeous Alabama white marble on my counters. I’d like to do a similar kitchen here but don’t even know where to start in terms of finding the right team to help. Personal recommendations go a long way when selecting folks to work on one’s home! And as you know— installing marble requires someone with lots of experience, especially if you need seams.) Thank you! Keep writing and sharing!
Love your gorgeous kitchen! Two questions: can you tell me about the tile your behind range? Glass? Size tiles? Also, where you found that gorgeous cookie jar? Thank you!
