This is the 3rd kitchen I’ve done in 3 years. Right after I finished the first kitchen remodel, we moved to the lake. I loved her–-the turquoise kitchen. She’ll always be special to me.
Then there was the lake kitchen remodel. And much to your chagrin surprise, I did a white layered palette. I really liked that kitchen too but again, we only enjoyed her for a few months before our house burned to the ground.
Laurel Cove Kitchen is her own woman. She may seem a little high-falutin’, what with her crystal chandelier and her marble countertops. But once you get to know her, you’ll realize that despite her proper exterior, she’s a workhorse willing to serve.
This weekend, she entertained the family with style. She served roasted turkey and butternut squash soup, the best ever beef stew, smoked turkey and potatoes, and chipotle pumpkin barley soup. On the sweets side, there were gingersnaps, pumpkin chocolate chip muffins, apple cake with caramel icing and strawberry pretzel salad. It was like a fall festival in your mouth 🙂
It was so much fun seeing how the kitchen functions in action—-she’s perfect. Roomy but cozy, pretty but functional. Mary AND Martha.
I’ll let you enjoy the pics and I’ll try to post sources tomorrow.
(a Le Creuset pot is always on the stove and usually full of yummies)
(I stole the idea of the fall leaves in the white transferware from Country Living)
(loving the open island—so easy to get the dishes out and put away)
This is the baking center and all the baking supplies and measuring utensils and stored in those drawers.
There’s a full post on the baking center, including how I organize my supplies and what I keep on hand!
(where all the magic happens)
This will likely be the first and last time you see this kitchen in this state. A table has been ordered and fabrics are being chosen to grace the windows and the chairs.
But I love her now too! And am so thankful everytime I am lucky enough to cook and bake and live here 🙂

AMAZING!!! Every detail is perfect, until the grandbabies come along, and then you will quickly add doors to that island! My wild-woman 18 month old would be in paradise pulling those dishes off the shelves! Until then, ENJOY! You and your family deserve all this beauty! It looks like you have casters on the piece next to the stove. Is that it’s permanent home then you move it about when you need to pass through the area by your baking center (which, btw, is my favorite part and I pinned it on my wall — LOVE it)? Or do you tuck it away someplace out when it’s not out and being used? Just absolutely love your spaces and thank you so very, very much for all the time you’ve taken to take and edit and post the pictures so we can rejoice with you in your new home. Wow. What a difference a year makes, huh?

love that kitchen edie! it is fabulous! such a cool baking center. would love to know — is your marble honed or polished. and love all of your colors — greens and grays and neutrals. mmmm!
edie wadsworth says
polished. but they were supposed to be honed. i’ve read equal amounts of pros or cons for both so i’m not sure it matters that much. you would only used marble if you’re okay with the patina it gets over time.

Where do you keep the small cart that’s next to the stove when you’re not using it? I want one of those, but thought I didn’t have enough room. It looks great where you have it. Maybe I should go ahead and get one and park it someplace unexpected?

All 3 of your kitchens are beautiful! You did a great job. May I ask why you picked marble over the previous counter (silestone? corian?) I just put in marble counters last December and was told the sealer used would make them stain proof. I did not realize that they would still etch. I love the look, but think if I had to do it all over again, I might consider the silestone or corian. Did you like yours? Thanks! Beth

I love the kitchen! I have Hazy Skies and Sea Salt in my new kitchen too. My island is sea salt, and it looks completely different in your kitchen! Mine looks more aquaish… I have carrara countertops, but with a honed finish. I really like them so far, and don’t see what all the big fuss is over having them in kitchens. Although, I haven’t had any bad messes yet either. Everything is just beautiful. We’ve been in our new house a month now, and I still don’t have a single thing hung on the walls and I have tons of boxes left to unpack. Between homeschooling my 1st grader and minding a toddler and an infant, I’m spread pretty thin! Want to come to Texas and decorate;) ?
Congratulations on your new home! Hoping you have many happy memories there.

edie wadsworth says
hi lauren!
it’s a kitchen aid and it’s the smallest one they make—-24 inches i think with the smallest trim kit. it works just fine though we don’t use the microwave that much anyways. hope it’s all going well for you!!!

I LOVE your blog and your style. Your home and family are beautiful! I am a homeschool mom of 6 from Connecticut. I want to give my 80’s kitchen a facelift but am very decorative challenged, so I thought it would be helpful to follow a model to help. My question is… The counters were updated before we bought 4 years ago. I have granite that I would call “warm” with tans, caramel, black in it. Does you palette (fieldstone) work with that? How “careful” do I have to be to work with the granite color? Thank you for your help!!! and BTW I LOVED your Why we “almost” quit homeschooling post. I LOVE my days with my kids.

Edie, I met you for a millisecond at Blissdom almost 3 years ago. I had read about your kitchen’s demise in the house fire and my heart ached for you and your family. I always loved your turquoise kitchen and have kept the images tucked in the back of my mind (and on a Pinterest board. LOL.) This past October we had a water leak, mold, asbestos abatement and now termite damage in our kitchen. I keep thinking that this must be a big test of my faith and strength before our dream kitchen is here. One thing that keeps me going is remembering that “It could always be worse.” Thanks for your inspiration and your ability to hold your head high to rebuild your beautiful new dream kitchen. I love all the details you chose. Best of luck and well wishes to you and your family. (P.s. that little block of fudge you gave me at Blissdom….Mmmmm!

that is certainly rather unprofessional via one of the X Factor judges.
The latest “X Factor” injury, Aiden Grimshaw was fast to defend Lloyd however, saying, “Cher is usually lovely. I think it absolutely was always those hard regarding who got such awful stick at such a early age to go around beaming but she’s amazing and she actually is done really well. micron
Cher Lloyd is on rather shaky ground with her popularity and if Katie Waissel is selected out of the competition soon, she may likely become the new “villain” of the show.
Louis Walsh was totally right when he mentioned, ” She has to learn to be good to everybody – because you will meet them on how down. inch

But make sure that you consider the style your home is built with.

What a beautiful kitchen! You have great style- both classy and colorful. I enjoy your blog. We recently moved to the area for my husband’s job- a little ways East of you in the Tri-cities. I don’t know a soul. I actually came across your blog when I did a search for “Kingsport” and “kitchen design.” If you are comfortable giving recommendations for folks in our area, I would be so grateful. (Cabinetmaker & stone fabricator in particular. In our old home I worked with a custom cabinetmaker and enjoyed that process and I had absolutely gorgeous Alabama white marble on my counters. I’d like to do a similar kitchen here but don’t even know where to start in terms of finding the right team to help. Personal recommendations go a long way when selecting folks to work on one’s home! And as you know— installing marble requires someone with lots of experience, especially if you need seams.) Thank you! Keep writing and sharing!

Love your gorgeous kitchen! Two questions: can you tell me about the tile your behind range? Glass? Size tiles? Also, where you found that gorgeous cookie jar? Thank you!

I am wondering if you used the one inch or the larger Gilmore knob. I need to order knobs and love the Gilmore from RH, just not sure which size I prefer. I’m a visual person and really like the scale of yours shown on your cabinets though. 🙂
