When Blogher asked me participate in Tide’s ‘Style that Pops’ campaign, I couldn’t sign up fast enough. I clothe myself like I decorate my house; in layers, with color, with things that inspire! AND, I’ve used Tide for 20 years and although I’ve changed brands for short periods of time, I always come back to Tide. I was so curious to try the†Tide Pods on my favorite colorful clothes. I hate having beautiful pieces that come out of the laundry dingy. I’m crushing on pinks and purples right now so I’m in the market for an outfit that looks like this chair and pillow!

It’s so much more fun to wash pretty, colorful clothes, don’t you agree? YES, yes it is! And it’s also true that what you wear has some sort of psychological effect on your mood. Although I still love the tried and true neutrals, adding color to your wardrobe has a big payoff. And even though I stay home every day, homeschooling my girls, doing laundry, making food and cleaning, I still get dressed in things that inspire me. I don’t ‘save’ the good stuff for special occasions. Otherwise, I’d never wear it. I slip on an apron and let Tide worry about the mess! I can tell you for sure that it was more fun to make Stevie’s birthday pie in a pretty, colorful shirt. After a whole day of working hard at home, it was a mess. I washed it this morning using one of the Tide Pods and it’s sparkling again. I love the smell of the ‘Spring Meadow’ variety. I’ve got a strong smeller so I judge a laundry detergent by its smell factor and I worried that these small little pacs wouldn’t pack a punch in scent—– but they do.
I consider myself a connoisseur of laundry. I’ve done a lot of laundry in my life. I do a lot of laundry now. And I have to tell you that I LOVE these Tide Pods. You just throw a pac in the wash, without the mess of the liquid and without any extra steps. I think you’ll like them too. And don’t forget to wear the good stuff. Even at home. You’ll feel better, look better, and when it’s time to do laundry, your clothes will be (almost) fun to wash. Pop in. Stand out.

Oh, Edie, I have a hot pink cashmere sweater that you would mug me for! And I wear it with a floral blouse and gray pants. I also have a green/blue-gray tweed jacket that makes me feel great, but it’s really warm. I can only wear it as outerwear or in the dead of winter with a green blouse.

I have a great royal blue blouse with white polka dots that I pair with an orange cardigan! My oldest daughter’s wedding colors were blue and orange ( she is a landscape architect and knows color well).
But really, my favorite stand out piece is a full length mink coat that my husband took as a fee from a client. He held onto it for many years, and in a very low part of my life, gifted me with it. I rarely wear it as it is very presumptive, but when the temps dip down in N Texas, I pull it out! His sweet thoughts and caring make it worth all the stares!
I’m down here in Florida so I’m in capris all the time. Top it off with a soft pretty blouse and some sandals and I’m ready to go!

I don’t really have a favorite, but I do know that one day I looked at my clothes and realized they were all tan, brown, black or gray. So I went on a mission to add colorful blouses and tops and now I have turquoise and green and red and purples and pinks and I love it!
We love the pods too. Great for the guys in our house to help with their own laundry. I love not having to worry that they are putting in too much of something. My “uniform” of choice is jeans, boots and a colorful top. I am crushing on oranges and pinks right now.

There are a few outfits that I put on and I just feel so “me” in. And they almost always involve my ancient jean jacket. I throw it over all sorts of outfits, fancy, casual, work, and it just seems to set it all right.
I have a jacket that is green….kermit the frog green….and I love it….I wear it with almost any color and it just pops…..I always get compliments too…… 🙂

I like blacks and greys with pops of brights, I always wash my clothes separate from my son’s 🙂 he’s 11 and they has a hobby of making an outside fort at school out of sticks and dirt hoping to weatherproof it for winter. So cute, but some messy surprises come home:-)

I have a skirt that I made out of my Mom’s dress (that she made). I inherited alot of her belongings when she passed away & repurposed some items to fit my style. The fabric pattern is bold and I can wear it in the summer with sandals or boots in the winter. It’s full, too, so I always feel like dancing when I wear it.

I love wearing my bird appliqué dress. The are hand sewn onto the dress. I cut them from my sons old baby tshirts. The dress fits perfectly and I am proud to wear something I made.

I am actually very convicted by your post today. I was reading it and looked down at my outfit to realize I was wearing all faded gray (my “work” clothes). I realized that I see myself as “employed” by my home and not “called” to live and love here. What a novel idea: wear gorgeous clothes to “work” through on a beautiful apron and trust my detergent to do its job. Thanks!

I love big “gaudy” (my husband calls it) jewelry. You can throw on just about anything, add a colorful necklace and a stack of bangle bracelets up your arm and make it really special! I’m a stay at home mom who homeschools and I really try to avoid the pj’s and sweatpants look. No one feels good dressed like THAT!

For me it’s a classic button down white shirt, it goes with skirts, suits and instantly classes up my favorite jeans, it can be worn alone or layered under a cardi or jacket, that’s definitely 3-in-1 action right there!
