Those of you who’ve been following this blog for a long time know that my son Taylor graduated from high school last year. I chronicled that journey with him here and am so glad to have the memories recorded. I wrote about his band The Verity and about his antics with Andrew and even about my heartbreak as he left.
But time just marches on, doesn’t it? We try to slow down the years and capture the moments but they seem impossible to hold onto.
And today, he turns 20 and has finished his first year of college! I’m so happy to have him home even if it will be brief —–and I am so proud of him. He’s my firstborn—the compliant and helpful one, the overachieving uber talented one. And I am continually amazed at the fact that no matter how old he gets, he’ll always be my Taylor, my rock, my kind hearted little boy with a smile a mile wide.
Happy Birthday Tay!
Love you.

You can’t have a 20 year old. You must’ve had him when you were 5 🙂

He kind of sounds like my Kade. It gives me a little bit of hope that Kade will always be a mama’s boy. Wow, can’t believe it’s been a year. Happy Birthday Taylor!!

Awwwww!! Happy Birthday to him!!! I still need to go and get his CD! And I need to send you my CD, as that shares my heart more than anything else in the world.
But….back to the photo/post.
Okay, do you have some photograph in your attic i.e. Dorian Gray (is that how you spell his name?!?!) that’s getting older while you are not aging?!??!
Honey, if you birthed that 20 year old MAN, well….I just can’t believe it.
You look barely old enough to be his older sister.
You better be droppin’ to your KNEES, sister, and thanking God that you look so GAW-JUS after popping out all these wonderful babies who, at least one of them, is NOW A GROWN MAN NO LONGER IN HIS TEENS.
Seriously.
GET.
SOME.
KNEEPADS.
🙂
Love in Christ,
Lana

Your son is a cutie and reminds me of Tim from American Idol. Great smile and great hair! First borns are the best and it’s so exciting to see them take wings and grow up. Seems like yesterday my, Danielle was a little girl in her ruffly dresses and her curly hair playing dolls. She is now 28 and a mother of a 1-1/2 year old! Time flies…keep enjoying every moment.
