There’s nothing quite like sitting at a concert and listening to your son sing and play. I am so proud of him and so blessed to be his mama. And I couldn’t be happier that he’s surrounded by such a talented and funny and committed group of guys. So, given the fact that you and I are tight and given the fact that my comments are closed and you can’t poke fun at me, I’m gonna share with you the playlist on my ipod that I ran to on Wednesday, while I simultaneously share some photos from the concert last night. I’ll sing a little line for ya too……virtually, of course. Because I love lyrics. And I crack myself up. And if it occurs to you that these songs aren’t really fast….well, neither am I.
1. Jackson by Johnny Cash “We got married in a fever….hotter than a pepper sprout. We’ve been talking ’bout Jackson…..ever since the fire went out. We’re goin’ to Jackson…..”
2. Can’t Touch This by M.C.Hammer “My, my my my music hits me so hard….make me say ‘OhMyLord, thank you for blessing me with a mind to rhyme and two hype feet’ “
3. Empty by Ray Lamontagne “She lifts her skirt up to her knees, walks through the garden row with her bare feet, laughing”.
4. I’m Not a King by The Verity (who did a most outstanding job last night-they look and sound like pros)
“I have compromised my life….I have lived with much regret. But now that you are in my life…there’s no more darkness, only light”
5. Wishlist by Pearl Jam “I wish I was a sentimental ornament you hung on….The Christmas tree, I wish I was the star that went on top”
6. Play that Funky Music by Wild Cherry “Yeah they were dancin’ and singing’ and movin’ to the groovin’ And that ‘s when it hit me, somebody turned around and shouted”
7. How Far We’ve Come by Matchbox Twenty “Started crying and I couldn’t stop myself, I started runnin’ but there’s nowhere to run to”
8. Take Me Away by Lifehouse “This time all I want is you. There is noone else, who can take your place. This time you burn me with your eyes, you see past all the lies, you take it all away.”
Jason Wade from Lifehouse has always made me think of Taylor. And since I didn’t get any good video of last nights’ concert, enjoy Lifehouse singing Take Me Away. And then enjoy these lyrics while you add this song to your playlist. It’s a must. And I’m busy mailing you the CD’s of The Verity. Then you should add them to your playlist too.
this time all I want is you
there is no one else
who can take your place
this time you burned me with your eyes
you see past all the lies
you take it all away
I’ve seen it all and it’s never enough
it keeps leaving me needing you
take me away
take me away
I’ve got nothing left to say
just take me away
I try to make my way to you
but still I feel so lost
I don’t know what else I can do
I’ve seen it all and it’s never enough
it keeps leaving me needing you
take me away
take me away
I’ve got nothing left to say
just take me away
don’t give up on me yet
don’t forget who I am
I know I’m not there yet
but don’t let me stay here alone
this time all I want is you
there is no one else
who can take your place
I’ve seen it all and it’s never enough
it keeps leaving me needing you
take me away
take me away
I’ve got nothing left to say
just take me away
take me away
take me away
I’ve got nothing left to say
just take me away
That’s all. Happy Friday!
